A new Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday showed a shocking trend among independent voters that both parties will find intriguing for different reasons.
The survey questioned voters about the Department of Justice’s case against former President Donald Trump, which investigates his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House.
62% of those asked said the DOJ’s case is mainly motivated by politics, while 34% said the charges are mainly motivated by law.
But the demographic breakdown is where things get interesting.
Along the two party lines, 91% of registered Republicans believe the case is politically motivated. Just 28% of registered Democrats said the same.
But among independents, a full 65% said they believe the charges are politically motivated.
The breakdown by age group is also interesting. Younger respondents, those between age 18 and 34 years of age, were actually more inclined to say the charges are politically motivated. 67% of that age range does, while 53% of those 65 years of age and older say the same.
Race also played a role. 67% of the more conservative Hispanic demographic felt the charges against Trump are politically motivated. 59% of whites agreed, and so did 52% of black respondents.
The survey’s methodology asked respondents to self-identify as Republican, Democrat, independent, or other. 27% answered Republican, 31% Democrat, 31% independent, and 11% other.
Results Could Imply Trouble for Democrats
Despite Democrats and Independents outnumbering Republicans in the sample, nearly two-thirds of the respondents said the investigation is politically motivated.
That has been a big talking point from Trump as he speaks with the media about the charges and gives speeches as he campaigns for the position of president once again.
The high number of independent voters who say the charges are mainly politically motivated is sure to stand out to each party as they decide how to navigate Trump, who is the leading candidate for the Republican nomination at this time.
You can’t hide plain truth especially when it’s out in the open!
The left’s and its collaborators in the media can continue with their horse and pony show of distractions all they want but they can’t stop the MAGA Bus!

You know that the Democrats are at it again with harassing Trump and that is what it is all about and has been for years. They don’t want him running because they know he will beat Biden and that is what it’s all about this time. And look at Biden. He was Vise President, not President and had no authority to take any documents out of the building and what charges have been brought up on him for an even bigger crime than what they are trying to get Trump on. Come on people, is this the law of our land, to put one in prison that was legal to take some papers from the building, but the other man was not legal to take anything, and papers have been found all over the place. If that isn’t impartial, then what the hell is?
