Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) will soon depart for New York City to join protests planned for Tuesday as former President Donald Trump is arraigned.
Trump is expected to surrender voluntarily on Tuesday in Manhattan following his indictment last week in relation to the hush money he paid at least two women who alleged they carried out affairs with him.
Greene announced on Sunday she will join the New York Young Republican Club in a “peaceful rally” in support of Trump.
“Protesting is a constitutional right and I am going to NY on Tuesday to protest this unprecedented abuse of our justice system and election interference,” she tweeted.
“We will not live in fear and we will lawfully stand against tyranny and corruption while we show our support for President Trump.”
She also hit out at bad actors in advance, saying, “I also reject any attempt and anyone who dresses in MAGA but incites violence or commits violence while pretending to be one of us. You are not one of us, you are one of them.”
Friends in Unusual Places
MTG is not the only politician to call out the indictment of Trump.
Two senators who voted to convict Trump after January 6th raised concerns that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is improperly targeting the former president.
Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, said the indictment marked a “very, very sad day for America” in a “Fox News Sunday” interview.
“Especially when people are maybe believing that the rule of law or justice is not working the way it’s supposed to and it’s biased — we can’t have that,” Manchin said. “But on the other hand, no one’s above the law. But no one should be targeted by the law.”
Senator Bill Cassidy, a Republican from Louisiana who was censured by his state party after voting to convict Trump, went even further than Manchin.
“It’s wrong. I’ll put it this way — no one should be the target of the law,” Cassidy said. “This seems to be more about the person than about the crime.”
Put your son or daughter in the exact place of President Trump. Would you want them to be “judged and juried” in the same way as he has been??? SOOO sad that our nation has gotten to this point!!! HOWEVER, when we all attempt to “do life OUR way” (as Frankie driveled) –
THIS IS THE RESULT!!!!!
