Another radical activist has called for violence against Republicans. Carnegie Mellon University is reviewing social media posts by associate professor Uju Anya after describing recent remarks as “hostile and threatening.” The university said Saturday that Anya is on voluntary professional leave and will not teach on campus this academic year. Her Twitter account has been deactivated.
🚨 "Die first, white man, then ask yourself why I'm dancing."
That’s from Professor Uju Anya of the once-prestigious Carnegie Mellon University.
Over the past 24 hours, her social media posts have grown increasingly unhinged, inflammatory, and violent in tone.

The review follows renewed circulation of a 2021 exchange about the death of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. Responding to a critic, Anya wrote, “Die first, white man, then ask yourself why I’m dancing.” Reports also described recent posts disparaging Charlie Kirk around the first anniversary of his assassination. Carnegie Mellon has not publicly identified every post it is reviewing or announced whether the review could lead to disciplinary action.
Anya teaches second-language acquisition in the university’s Department of Languages, Cultures and Applied Linguistics. Her research examines language learning and Black experiences in multilingual settings, including the role of race and other aspects of identity. Commentator Jared Taylor questioned why a university best known for its technical programs hired her to study those subjects. Carnegie Mellon, however, also has a humanities and social sciences college that houses her department. Carnegie Mellon faculty profile, university course catalog.
Dr. Uju Anya is currently on voluntary professional leave from the university and is not teaching courses on our campus this academic year. We are deeply concerned by recent hostile and threatening social media posts by Dr. Anya and are reviewing this matter closely.

Although the university is pretending to review the tweets, Anya has said that she has support from her department head:
🚨 Your department chair is throwing away emails from concerned Americans and parents, you say? Is that soooooooo…

Anya’s posts have drawn objections before. In 2022, Carnegie Mellon called her remarks about the dying Queen Elizabeth II “offensive and objectionable” and said they did not represent the university. After the 2024 attempt on Donald Trump’s life, Anya posted that it was staged. The university has not said when its current review will conclude. Tuition at the university is $69,702 per year for the 2026–2027 academic year.
