At The Value Conference in Florida last week, actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson addressed the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, calling it a “moment the country wanted to see.”
During the keynote session, Johnson was asked about his thoughts on the assassination attempt, particularly given his past interactions with Trump during his wrestling career, reported Fox News.
“Whether you love Donald, don’t love Donald, it doesn’t matter. They tried to assassinate him. There’s no room for that,” Johnson stated, emphasizing that such violence doesn’t align with America’s values. “Despite it being who we were in that moment, I still believe in my core that is not who we are as a country. So him standing up at that moment, we wanted to see that.”
Johnson reflected on his history with Trump, reminiscing about the former president’s frequent appearances at his wrestling matches in New York City. “He used to come watch me wrestle all the time at Madison Square Garden. It was great. First time I saw him, he said ‘let me see the eyebrows,’” Johnson joked, referring to the iconic “people’s eyebrow” that became a meme and fan favorite.
When asked for additional comments, Johnson’s publicist declined to provide further details to Fox News Digital.
In a related discussion, Johnson addressed his political stance ahead of the 2024 election. Despite endorsing President Joe Biden in 2020, Johnson revealed that he would not be making any endorsements this election cycle. He explained his decision on “Fox & Friends” in April, expressing regret over the division caused by his previous endorsement. “The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was what I thought was the best decision for me at that time,” Johnson said.
However, he made it clear that he would not repeat that action in 2024. “Am I going to do that again this year? That answer’s no. I’m not going to do that,” he stated, reflecting on the aftermath of his 2020 endorsement. “What I realized that what that caused back then was something that tears me up in my guts back then and now, which is division.”
Johnson emphasized his desire to contribute to national unity, saying, “I wouldn’t do that because my goal is to bring our country together. I believe in that, in my DNA. So in the spirit of that, there’s going to be no endorsement.” He concluded by asserting that he will keep his political views private this time around, stating, “I’m gonna keep my politics to myself, and I think it’s between me and the ballot box.”
The Rock’s comments come on the heels of Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris in a news dump during the presidential debate on Tuesday night, effectively acknowledging that liberals wouldn’t leave her alone unless she endorsed while trying to make it the least impactful.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift wrote. “I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.”
Swift’s endorsement led to over 300,00 people to visit Vote.org to register to vote.
