Even liberals are getting tired of the obvious lying in an effort to drag Kamala Harris across the finish line. During a recent episode of his HBO show, Bill Maher criticized media outlets for allegedly misrepresenting former President Donald Trump’s remarks about former Republican Liz Cheney, with headlines suggesting Trump called for her to be put in front of a firing squad.
The controversy stems from comments Trump made during a forum hosted by Tucker Carlson, where he accused Cheney of consistently advocating for military intervention. Trump suggested that Cheney might reconsider her stance if she had “guns trained on her” at some point. While some outlets, including The Washington Post and CNN, interpreted Trump’s remarks as a call for Cheney’s execution, Maher argued that such coverage was misleading.
You can watch the comments yourself and determine whether or not the former president was calling for a “firing squad.”
Maher, known for his often critical stance on Trump, said, “I woke up today to the headline that Trump had called for a firing squad for Liz Cheney, and this is what I really don’t like about the media. No, he didn’t … you don’t have to move me to not like Donald Trump.” Fellow panelist and podcaster Michael Moynihan echoed Maher’s sentiments, criticizing the media for exaggerating Trump’s already controversial comments. “He says so many terrible things, why do you have to do that?” Moynihan said.
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, present on the panel, acknowledged the overreach, noted The Daily Caller, calling the media’s portrayal “ridiculous and absurd.” Raskin, however, noted Trump’s rhetoric still differed from anti-war sentiments, saying, “When has Trump criticized a war hawk the way a hippie did?”
Maher also drew parallels between Trump’s critique and anti-war messages from the 1960s, particularly in the song “Fortunate Son,” arguing that the core of Trump’s statement mirrored anti-war sentiment in America’s counterculture.
The complaints from the comedian come as media outlets have gone full throttle to tilt the election in favor of Kamala Harris, focusing on random comments from Trump surrogates than anything the former president or Kamala Harris say in their rallies or have proposed as part of their agenda.
He Gets IT
“alleged misrepresentation” umm nope – the lame stream media and various left wing pundits twisted the comment so badly they made it into a pretzel. BUT they accomplished their ‘mission’ to portray DJT as an evil man. They know that a large percentage of the ‘faithful’ will accept their version of the comment.
