Two Detained Near Vice President Kamala Harris’ Home

Early Saturday morning, Los Angeles police detained two individuals near Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence in Brentwood. The incident occurred during the citywide fire-related curfew, prompting concerns as devastating wildfires continued to ravage the region.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported receiving a call at approximately 4:40 a.m. to its West L.A. station about suspicious activity at the Vice President’s property on Bundy Drive, just north of Sunset Boulevard. Responding officers found two individuals on the premises during their investigation, according to a report by KTLA.

While unverified reports suggested the individuals were men dressed in black, the police have not confirmed this detail. Both individuals were detained for curfew violations but later released after authorities determined no criminal activity had taken place. Officials have not provided further information on why the individuals were at the property or whether additional investigations are underway.

The incident occurred amidst the ongoing crisis caused by the Palisades Fire, one of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history. Law enforcement agencies, including the LAPD, Santa Monica Police, and Airport Police, as well as members of the National Guard, have been enforcing a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew to curb looting, trespassing, and other offenses in fire-affected areas. Looting has been reported in Los Angeles as the fires continue to burn.

The Palisades Fire, which ignited last week, has caused widespread devastation across southern California. By Saturday evening, it had claimed five lives, burned over 23,654 acres.

Brentwood and parts of the San Fernando Valley remain at risk as firefighters work tirelessly to contain the blaze. Residents are urged to stay alert and adhere to curfew regulations while emergency personnel continue their efforts to safeguard lives and property.
