Joe Manchin Joins Lobbying Firm

Former U.S. Senator Joe Manchin has embarked on a new career, joining Bondi Partners, an Australia-based consultancy and lobbying firm, as a senior adviser, according to reports. The firm announced his appointment on Friday, emphasizing his extensive political experience and bipartisan credentials.

Known for his centrist stance and frequent clashes with his own party, Manchin played a crucial role in the Senate, often acting as a swing vote on major legislation. His departure from the Democratic Party followed his earlier announcement that he would not seek reelection, and he often served as a thorn in the side of Joe Biden, particularly over energy policies and the Inflation Reduction Act.

“We are pleased to welcome Senator Manchin to Bondi Partners,” said Joe Hockey, the firm’s global president, in a press release. “Washington, D.C. is the modern-day Rome—it remains the epicenter of global politics, and Joe Manchin has been at its heart for over two decades.”

Bondi Partners provides a range of services, including lobbying, policy analysis, and reputation management, catering to clients across industries such as mining, financial services, clean energy, and biotechnology. Public filings reveal that the firm has lobbied on behalf of an Australian baby formula manufacturer, a shipbuilding corporation, and several trade associations in the United States.

Manchin underscored his dedication to fostering international collaboration. “Throughout my career, I have focused on developing pragmatic solutions that unite people,” he stated. “I look forward to continuing this work by supporting businesses from Australia, the U.K., the U.S., and beyond as they navigate complex policy environments and develop strategies for sustainable growth.”

The former senator is not the first prominent American figure to join Bondi Partners. The firm has previously recruited notable officials, including former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, former National Security Agency Director Admiral Mike Rogers, and former U.S. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer.
