Chuck Todd Expresses Major Concerns About Kamala Harris

A potential bid by former Vice President Kamala Harris for California’s governorship in 2026 is stirring skepticism among liberal political analysts. The position has been viewed as a potential landing spot for the former vice president. Chuck Todd, the former host of NBC’s Meet the Press, expressed reservations about Harris’s viability in a race that may favor an outsider rather than a political veteran.

Todd emphasized that California, despite its deep-blue reputation, has entered its 17th consecutive year under Democratic leadership, which could foster voter fatigue, writes The Daily Caller.

“Boy, I would be shocked if she does. If she wants to run for president in ‘28, you can’t run for governor of California in ‘26,” Todd said. “So I do think if she runs for governor, she’s made the decision she’s not running.”

Todd also highlighted the challenge a typical Democrat could face in winning the governorship after years of one-party control.

“Here’d be my warning to any conventional Democrat running for governor of California in ‘26: Go look at the track record of any political party trying to win a governorship for basically for 20 straight years,” he said. “It doesn’t happen very often, right? And so this is 16 straight years of Democratic governance in California. It’s the longest, I think, going back nearly a hundred years.”

Todd also argued Harris’ status as a long-time powerful politician could work against her if she were to run for the governorship.

“Governor is the one place where voters won’t always vote their jersey color, and I think voters are going to be looking for somebody from the outside,” the political analyst said. “And I think that Harris — somebody who’s the former vice president, former U.S. senator, former district attorney in San Francisco — how does she sell change? She’s got to somehow run against Gavin Newsom’s governorship.”

Compounding concerns about her electability are the lingering effects of her presidential campaigns. In 2020, her effort failed spectacularly and was considered one of the wost ever. She failed to gain traction in the Democratic primary, securing just 844 votes and no delegates.

Her tenure as vice president received major criticism, as well. In 2022, Democrats began wondering if Biden should drop her from the re-election bid.

When she was handed the nomination ticket later lost all seven swing states in the general election to Donald Trump, further fueling questions about her electoral strength. Harris managed to blow a billion dollars in just a few short months and it left the national Democratic Party with crippling debt.

While Harris’s national profile and political experience are undeniable, analysts argue that winning the California governorship in the current climate may require a narrative and style that diverge significantly from her past campaigns.

  1. Whorris has shown everybody in America what an absolute disaster she is. Her political career could hardly be worse. But the evil demonRATS will ignore all of that and still try to put Willie Browns little tart in another lucrative position. Personally, I don’t think the American public or the California public will want her around. Don’t forget the state of California north of Sacramento is still very conservative.
