Former President Joe Biden has entered a new phase of treatment for prostate cancer, according to a statement from his spokesperson.
The 82-year-old is now undergoing radiation therapy alongside hormone treatments as part of his continuing care regimen. NBC News reported that the radiation course will extend over five weeks and represents an advancement in Biden’s broader treatment plan. The source added that Biden has already been taking oral hormone medications.
In September, Biden underwent Mohs surgery to remove skin cancer, after which a visible bandage was seen on his forehead. His physician later confirmed that “all cancerous tissue was successfully removed” and that “no further treatment is required.”
Biden publicly revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis in May, describing it as an advanced form that had spread to his skeletal system. At the time, his team said he was evaluating multiple approaches to manage the illness.

Oncology experts noted that the extent of the disease’s progression suggests it may have gone undetected for some time. The American Cancer Society recommends that men in their 50s and 60s undergo prostate cancer screenings every two years, though it remains unclear whether Biden received such a test during his last presidential health checkup.
Reports indicate the former president, who turns 83 soon, is maintaining a positive outlook. Biden left office in January after choosing not to seek reelection, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. His later months in office were marked by questions about his age and cognitive fitness, concerns that he and his family have consistently rejected.
