United States Strikes ISIS

The United States carried out large-scale airstrikes against Islamic State targets across Syria on Saturday, marking the second major U.S. military action against the terror group in the country in recent weeks.

U.S. Central Command announced that the Department of War conducted the strikes at approximately 12:30 p.m. EST, targeting multiple ISIS positions “alongside partner forces.”

In a statement posted to Twitter, CENTCOM said it conducted “large-scale strikes against multiple ISIS targets across Syria” as part of ongoing counterterrorism operations in the region.

“The strikes today targeted ISIS throughout Syria as part of our ongoing commitment to root out Islamic terrorism against our warfighters, prevent future attacks, and protect American and partner forces in the region. U.S. and coalition forces remain resolute in pursuing terrorists who seek to harm the United States,” CENTCOM wrote.

The command issued a direct warning to terrorist groups operating in the region, adding, “Our message remains strong: if you harm our warfighters, we will find you and kill you anywhere in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice.”

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth echoed the message shortly after the announcement, replying to CENTCOM’s post with a brief statement: “We will never forget, and never relent.”

Saturday’s operation follows a previous round of U.S. airstrikes launched Dec. 19 at the direction of President Donald Trump, when American forces struck more than 70 ISIS targets across central Syria. That operation marked the start of Operation Hawkeye Strike.

The December strikes were ordered in response to a December 13 ISIS attack in Syria that killed two U.S. service members and one civilian interpreter, noted The Daily Caller. The victims included Iowa National Guardsmen Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres Tovar, 25, and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29.

The renewed air campaign underscores the Trump administration’s continued military pressure on ISIS remnants operating inside Syria, following the December ambush that triggered Operation Hawkeye Strike and intensified U.S. counterterrorism operations in the region.
