Former President Bill Clinton released a late-night video statement late Friday addressing his closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee as part of its ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking network.
In the roughly three-minute recording, the 42nd president again denied knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s criminal activity. He characterized his relationship with the late financier as limited and professional, asserting that their association ended before Epstein’s misconduct became publicly known. Clinton said he cooperated with the committee voluntarily and framed his testimony as consistent with the principle that public officials remain accountable under the law. He also urged the release of all remaining Epstein-related files, arguing that transparency is necessary both for public trust and for justice on behalf of victims.

The deposition is unusual but not without precedent. Former presidents have provided congressional testimony in various forms, though it remains rare. Clinton’s appearance came amid heightened scrutiny over Epstein’s network of political, financial, and social elites.
According to individuals familiar with the session, lawmakers from both parties questioned Clinton extensively about flight manifests, documented social contacts, and evidence previously disclosed in civil litigation and investigative files. Among the materials referenced was a photograph depicting Clinton in a hot tub with an unidentified woman. Clinton reportedly stated he did not know the woman’s identity and denied any improper conduct.
Public records have previously shown that Clinton flew multiple times on Epstein’s private aircraft in the early 2000s, primarily in connection with philanthropic travel tied to the Clinton Foundation. Clinton has consistently maintained that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal conduct and severed ties well before Epstein’s 2019 federal indictment on sex-trafficking charges.
The House Oversight Committee’s investigation remains ongoing. Lawmakers have signaled interest in additional high-profile testimony connected to Epstein’s network and had previously threatened the Clintons with contempt charges if they didn’t cooperate. As of this writing, no criminal charges have been filed against Bill Clinton in connection with the probe.
