Biden has announced that he will not be stepping down despite the spate of disastrous polling following his debate with Trump, and with the news, it appears the media is once again circling the wagons.
So much more being self reflective about how they “missed” all the signs that the president may have cognitive problems.
During Wednesday’s briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced intense questioning from a skeptical group of reporters regarding Biden’s debate performance and his campaign intentions. Still, one reporter appeared to “cross the line,” forcing liberal journalists to pounce to protect the president, writes Mediate.
NBC News Senior White House Correspondent Kelly O’Donnell asked if Biden had “a duty to review data like polling information that’s coming in, donor information, the fears and concerns and anxieties expressed by Democrats,” and Jean-Pierre asked for a clarification.
“You’re saying that he’s absolutely running –” said O’Donnell, and Jean-Pierre interjected, “well, he’s saying that and I’m sharing, I’m sharing with you his view.”
“– And we would invite the president to come here and tell us that directly,” said O’Donnell.
“Noted. Noted, noted, Kelly,” said Jean-Pierre.
“If he’s awake!” called out a male reporter from behind O’Donnell, drawing a “that’s inappropriate!” rebuke from her.

The press conference, along with a recent article by The Associated Press revealed that with Biden remaining insistent that he’s staying in the race, the media has once again begun doing everything it can to protect Joe Biden.
Under the dubious headline, “Biden at 81: Often sharp and focused but sometimes confused and forgetful,” The AP wrote, “He is often sharp and focused. But he also has moments, particularly later in the evening, when his thoughts seem jumbled and he trails off mid-sentence or seems confused. Sometimes he doesn’t grasp the finer points of policy details. He occasionally forgets people’s names, stares blankly and moves slowly around the room.
Biden’s occasional struggles with focus may not be unusual for someone his age. But at 81 years old and seeking another four years in the White House, the moments when he’s off his game have taken on a fresh resonance following his disastrous debate performance against Republican Donald Trump.”
One political commentator on Twitter summed up the move perfectly.
