Joe Biden has had enough coddling of Kamala Harris. During a White House briefing on hurricanes Helene and Milton, Biden had a tense moment when Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm reminded him it was Vice President Kamala Harris’ turn to speak. Harris attended the meeting virtually, and as Biden appeared to be wrapping up his comments, the Energy Secretary pointed toward Harris on the monitor.
“I know,” Biden snapped, visibly irritated. “I’m going to go to the vice president in a second.” He tried to lighten the mood by jokingly calling Granholm “my boss,” but the exchange highlighted some underlying tension, wrote The New York Post.
Biden had been discussing the administration’s efforts in hurricane recovery, giving credit to those working on the ground. “We’ve saved lives — not me, but we, all of those folks out in the field have saved lives,” he said while flipping through his notes. However, after being interrupted again by Harris, Biden responded with, “Hang on one second, Madame Vice President.”
Biden ended his remarks by calling for more congressional funding for hurricane recovery, then turned the floor over to Harris. But before doing so, he stumbled, saying, “So with that, I’ll yield to the president — I mean the vice president,” drawing laughter from the room.
This exchange comes as rumors circulate about growing tension between Biden and Harris. According to NBC News, Biden has privately voiced frustration, feeling sidelined since dropping out of the 2024 presidential race in July. He’s reportedly expressed concern that his policies and achievements aren’t being emphasized enough by Harris, who has begun distancing herself from the extremely unpopular president.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the situation during a rally earlier this week, predicting a significant fallout between Biden and Harris before the 2024 election. “He’s angry, he’s angry at her,” Trump claimed, suggesting there could be a major conflict soon.
The president hasn’t allowed Harris to separate herself from his administration, noted Red State. “Biden has deliberately tied Harris to his policies, saying, ‘As president, there wasn’t a single thing that I did that she couldn’t do, and so I was able to delegate her responsibility on everything from foreign policy, domestic policy.’
‘We’re singing from the same song sheet. She helped pass all the laws. She was a major player in everything we’ve done, including passage of legislation, which we were told we could never pass,’ Biden added.”
