Trump Praises Killing of ISIS Leader in Iraq, Emphasizing ‘Peace Through Strength’

Former President Donald Trump on Friday hailed the death of Abdallah Maki Mosleh al Rifai, also known as “Abu Khadija,” an ISIS leader who was eliminated in an airstrike carried out by Iraqi security forces in coordination with the U.S.-led coalition.

“Today, the fugitive leader of ISIS in Iraq was killed,” Trump announced on Truth Social. “He was relentlessly hunted down by our intrepid warfighters. His miserable life was terminated, along with another member of ISIS, in coordination with the Iraqi Government and the Kurdish Regional Government. PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH!

Khadija, a senior figure in one of the world’s most notorious terrorist organizations, was confirmed dead on Friday following an airstrike conducted the day before. According to the Associated Press, his killing is part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle ISIS leadership in Iraq, according to Fox News.

The operation underscores the sustained collaboration between Iraqi security forces, the Kurdish Regional Government, and the U.S.-led coalition in targeting ISIS remnants. While the terrorist group has been significantly weakened in recent years, its sleeper cells continue to operate in parts of Iraq and Syria, necessitating ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

Trump, a long-time advocate of aggressive military action against terrorist organizations, framed the strike as a testament to the effectiveness of U.S. strategy in the region. His remarks echoed his past rhetoric on national security, reaffirming his commitment to eradicating ISIS leadership.

Further details on the airstrike and its broader implications are expected in the coming days. However, Iraqi and coalition officials continue to monitor ISIS activity and conduct operations to prevent the group’s resurgence.
