DeSantis Pledges ‘Aggressive Pardons’ for Jan 6th Defendants – and Trump

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently announced the official start to his campaign for president in 2024, is diving into the issues as he begins campaigning, starting with January 6th.

DeSantis made a first day pledge on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” podcast.

“On day one, I will have folks that will get together and look at all these cases, who people are victims of weaponization or political targeting, and we will be aggressive in issuing pardons,” he said.

When asked specifically about former President Donald Trump, who is currently being federal investigated for his potential role in the Capitol breach, DeSantis followed, “I would say any example of disfavored treatment based on politics, or weaponization would be included in that review, no matter how small or how big.”

In comments similar to those from his announcement night event, he also accused the Justice Department and FBI of weaponizing its authority with its ongoing investigations.

He also claimed the FBI is targeting anti-abortion groups and parents who speak out against woke school curriculum.

“We’re going to find examples where the government’s been weaponized against disfavored groups, and we will apply relief as appropriate, but it will be done on a case-by-case basis,” he said.

Liz Cheney Gives Her Two Cents

Following his comments, former Representative Liz Cheney, who was embarrassingly cast from her seat in Wyoming after attacking President Trump, posted a response on Twitter.

“Any candidate who says they will pardon Jan. 6 defendants is not qualified to be President,” she posted.

She has made similar comments about Trump, who also said he would consider case-by-case pardons for nonviolent January 6th defendants if he is elected.

Cheney was on the House select committee investigating January 6th and was part of the decision to criminally refer Trump to the Justice Department for various offenses including inciting an insurrection.

    • F Cheney. I said it in the 2000’s as a “moderate Democrat”, and I say it today as a solid conservative.

  1. If I were Old Lizbo I would be deeply concerned that she will be under investigation for her crimes against the country including the “Select” committee kangaroo court crapola concerning the January 6th lynching.
