Biden Tries To Calm The Waters

The vultures have begun circling the Biden campaign, but it appears that they refuse to give up the ghost.

Joe Biden’s campaign circulated an all-staff memo on Wednesday morning, revealing internal polling that indicates a still-tight race with Donald Trump. This move is the latest attempt by Biden’s advisers to reassure staff following the president’s underwhelming debate performance.

Politico writes that the Biden campaign has done another round of trying to plug holes in its sinking ship while boosting morale.

The memo, obtained by POLITICO, highlights internal battleground state tracking polls from before and after the debate, showing Biden dropping by half a percentage point during that period. Biden receives 43 percent of the vote to Trump’s 43 percent before the debate, and Biden registers at 42 percent by Tuesday. Trump improved his vote share by 0.2 percentage points by Tuesday, according to the memo.

The outreach sought to get ahead of an expected new poll from The New York Times/Siena College on Wednesday, “which is likely to show a slightly larger swing in the race,” the memo reads, signed by campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon and campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez. Neither the Times nor Siena College has publicly acknowledged a poll is forthcoming, but rumors of its results have been spreading through Democratic circles for the past 24 hours.

“We should all keep in mind that, just last week, the NYT themselves acknowledged that they are often a polling outlier,” the memo continued.

The campaign is clearly bracing for a wave of polling over the next two weeks, which has already started to trickle out. CBS News released a poll Wednesday morning that found Trump with a 3-point advantage across the battleground states and a 2-point edge nationally in a head-to-head matchup.

The memo comes, according to new reports, as “White House chief of staff Jeff Zients will hold an all-staff call at 12:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, according to a source familiar with the planning. Zients is expected to tell staff members to “weather the storm” and “keep your heads down.”

The call will include more junior staffers, some of whom have indicated frustration that no one is telling them anything. It is meant to amplify the message that Zients delivered to senior staff members — a much smaller group of about 40 — on Friday, when both he and Biden senior adviser Anita Dunn acknowledged the debate and said there would ‘always be challenging days.'”

The president will also be meeting with Democratic governors this evening in an effort to calm the waters.

  1. Sounds a lot like Obama will not give up his plan for a fourth term even if they have to use a body double and some tricky AI . But this means they still have to “steal the 2024 election. Definitely going to try though because look how easily the Repuklicans caved on their first effort in 2020. And those Dominion voting systems are still out there in all of the blue states.

    • Maxx, you obviously saw exactly what I saw late at night of the 2020 election, especially in Philadelphia and Atlanta. After the 2020 election, I also read what happenedf to the Republican votes on those Dominion voting machines…which can be reset to do whatever is wanted, and people complained that they watched as their Republican votes became Democrat votes! AND,,,I also am convinced of who has been calling the shots for our demented leader for the past four years! Unfortunately, we have witnessed that ‘hope and change’!
