Oregon officials disclosed on Friday that the state inadvertently registered more than 300 non-citizens as voters since 2021, a mistake they attributed to a “data entry issue” within the state’s Driver and Motor Vehicle Services (DMV). The error occurred when non-citizens applied for driver’s licenses, leading to their automatic registration to vote.
Kevin Glenn, a spokesperson for the Oregon Department of Transportation, which oversees the DMV, revealed that a preliminary analysis identified 306 non-citizens who were mistakenly registered to vote. According to Glenn, two of these individuals participated in elections since 2021. The admission has raised concerns because both state and federal laws strictly prohibit non-citizens from voting in any local or national elections.
The root of the issue appears to be linked to Oregon’s policy, implemented in 2019, allowing non-citizens to obtain driver’s licenses. Under state law, the DMV automatically registers most people to vote when they apply for a license or state ID. Glenn explained that the error occurs during the data entry process when DMV employees incorrectly code applicants as having U.S. birth certificates or passports, even when they do not possess such documentation.
DMV Administrator Amy Joyce also addressed the situation, telling The Oregonian/OregonLive on Friday that the office is conducting further checks for additional errors. Joyce indicated that the ongoing review might uncover more instances where non-citizens were mistakenly registered to vote.
This revelation has prompted increased scrutiny of the DMV’s voter registration processes, particularly in states like Oregon, where automatic voter registration is tied to driver’s license applications. According to The Associated Press, state officials are now working to correct the errors and prevent similar mistakes in the future. The situation highlights the importance of accurate data entry and the potential consequences when errors go undetected.
The story comes as some Democrats have begun to move the goalposts on illegal voting, going from the claim that it rarely happens to it happens, but it doesn’t impact the result of elections.
During a recent interview, for example, one of the more corrupt elections officials in the country, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, made the astonishing claim that “We were not seeing non-citizens participating in our elections in any state in high rates.”
Mich. Secy of State @JocelynBenson: “We were not seeing non-citizens participating in our elections in any state in high rates. When we see someone who‘s not eligible to vote for any reason registered to vote, we remove them from the rolls … When these unsubstantiated claims of… pic.twitter.com/tkTwWdmwSJ

Benson has been accused multiple times of exploiting voting rolls to help Democrats and recently faced several lawsuits about trying to manipulate this year’s presidential ballot to protect Kamala Harris in the Great Lakes State.
In Arizona, the Democratic secretary of state there has been charged with promoting voting from non-citizens in this year’s presidential election.
