President-elect Donald Trump has named attorney Alina Habba as his presidential counselor in the White House. The announcement came Sunday evening through a statement posted on Truth Social, where Trump praised Habba’s dedication and pivotal role in his campaign and legal battles.
“I am pleased to announce that Alina Habba will join my White House Team as Counselor to the President,” Trump shared. He described Habba as a “tireless advocate for justice” and a “fierce defender of the rule of law,” commending her loyalty and resilience throughout the legal challenges that defined his campaign and transition period.
Habba has been a central figure in Trump’s legal and political activities, garnering national recognition for her work as his attorney in prominent cases. These include the federal civil lawsuit involving Michael Cohen and the New York civil fraud case. Her performance in these high-profile cases underscored her legal expertise and dedication to defending Trump amidst substantial legal and financial obstacles.
Trump also lauded Habba’s resourcefulness in confronting what he referred to as the “weaponization of the ‘injustice’ system.” He praised her for her relentless efforts in combating “lawfare” with exceptional courage and determination.
Beyond her legal contributions, Habba was actively involved in Trump’s campaign team, noted The Washington Examiner, frequently speaking at rallies and participating in the Republican National Convention. Her high-profile presence and effectiveness during the election season fueled speculation that she might become White House press secretary. However, that position ultimately went to Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign spokeswoman.
In response to her appointment, Habba expressed her gratitude on social media, calling the opportunity the “honor of my life to serve the 45th and 47th President and the American people.”
As presidential counselor, Habba is expected to play a key advisory role in the administration, leveraging her legal expertise and strategic insights to help navigate the complexities of the presidency.
