During a recent diplomatic exchange, King Charles III reportedly extended a discreet outreach to former U.S. President Donald Trump, igniting curiosity within international political circles and prompting renewed discussion about America’s possible involvement with the Commonwealth of Nations.
The proposal, characterized as a “secret offer,” was personally delivered to Trump by British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during a private meeting, according to The Daily Express. Starmer invited Trump for a second official state visit to the United Kingdom, a move that coincides with rising trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada. These tensions have been exacerbated by a broad set of tariffs introduced by Trump earlier this year.
Sources told The Daily Mail that the Royal Commonwealth Society has revisited an idea first suggested during Trump’s presidency in 2017—offering the United States an “associate membership” in the Commonwealth. The organization is a voluntary union of 56 nations, mostly composed of former British colonies, united by shared democratic values and cultural heritage.
What was once a largely symbolic notion has now taken on renewed significance. With Canada—where King Charles remains the ceremonial head of state—embroiled in an escalating trade dispute with the United States, welcoming America into the Commonwealth is being positioned as a potential strategy to ease tensions and strengthen Atlantic partnerships.
“This is being discussed at the highest levels,” one insider said. “It would be a powerful signal of Britain’s enduring bond with the United States. Donald Trump has always expressed admiration for the Royal Family and a deep affection for the U.K.”
Trump, who accepted the invitation for another visit to Britain, offered warm words for both Prime Minister Starmer and King Charles, describing them as “beautiful” and “special.” He also reportedly praised Lady Victoria Starmer and reaffirmed his commitment to strong U.S.–U.K. relations, including ongoing support for British military forces.
The invitation is part of a broader, intermittent effort to bring the U.S. closer to the Commonwealth framework. While full membership remains improbable due to constitutional incompatibilities, the notion of associate status could open doors to closer collaboration on economic, defense, and diplomatic fronts.
Advocates believe American inclusion could reinforce shared global principles such as democracy, human rights, and rule of law. On the other hand, skeptics question whether the proposal offers any tangible benefits or whether it serves as little more than symbolic diplomacy during a complex geopolitical moment.

I would not trust them.. They are worse than the demon party by allowing all the Islamists into their country, and then punishing their own citizens while letting the Islamists get away with all their disgusting *BS..
This smells of “keep your enemies closer”. Not sure if the gesture is what underlies the meaning of the offer. It is kind of them to offer, but in this day and age (and thanks to my pessimism), I would say “Thanks, but No Thanks” until they explain what they really mean, and prove their true colors.
As Ronald Regan once said “trust but verify”. This is extremely necessary when it comes to politicians. They are the largest problems in society today and in the past. Just look what the successors to the Founders did to America. In less than one hundred years they manipulated the country so that they are no longer “servants of the people” and citizens are now their “subjects”. This not NOT what the Founders intended.
