Rudy Giuliani Involved In Car Crash

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized Saturday night after a car accident on Interstate 93 left him with a fractured vertebra and other injuries, according to his security team.

The 81-year-old Republican figure, known nationally as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership after 9/11, was riding as a passenger when his vehicle was struck from behind at high speed near Manchester. The impact shoved both cars into the median, heavily damaging the vehicles. Giuliani sustained a broken thoracic vertebra, cuts, bruises, and injuries to his left arm and leg. He was rushed to a nearby trauma center, according to NPR.

Michael Ragusa, Giuliani’s head of security, said the former mayor remained “fully alert and conscious” despite the seriousness of his injuries. “The Mayor is in good spirits, and doctors are optimistic about his recovery,” Ragusa said, adding that Giuliani is already eager to resume work. Ragusa dismissed speculation that the crash was anything but accidental, urging the public to avoid conspiracy theories.

The accident occurred shortly after Giuliani had stopped to assist a woman involved in a domestic violence incident on the same stretch of highway. According to Ragusa, Giuliani called 911 and stayed at the scene until police arrived. New Hampshire State Police officers responding to that incident witnessed the collision and rendered aid immediately. Three people, including Giuliani and his driver, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at local hospitals.

Giuliani’s son, Andrew, expressed gratitude in a social media post Sunday, praising his father’s resilience and thanking supporters for their concern.

Giuliani has remained a visible presence in Republican politics even as he confronts mounting legal trouble. He faces indictments in Georgia and Arizona over his role in challenging the 2020 election results, as well as a $148 million defamation judgment for false claims against Georgia election workers.

State police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
