The outlines of a conspiracy that prosecutors describe as both calculated and chilling emerged this week from a sealed set of state criminal complaints: a high school assistant principal and his brother, authorities say, spent days discussing how to ambush and murder federal immigration agents with high-powered rifles, armor-piercing ammunition, and explosives, according to The Post Millennial in a chilling report.
The report adds to the growing evidence that the left has become completely engulfed by radical violence in response to Trump’s election in 2024.
John Wilson Bennett, an assistant principal at Kempsville High School, and his brother, Mark Booth Bennett, were each charged with conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, the Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday. The allegations place a school administrator — someone entrusted with the protection and development of children — at the center of what investigators cast as a plot to execute federal officers.
According to investigators, Virginia State Police intercepted conversations on November 17 in which the brothers described plans to “kill police officers and ICE agents.” Mark Bennett was allegedly recorded outlining preparations to travel to Las Vegas to meet with others and obtain high-caliber rifles loaded with explosive rounds capable of breaching law-enforcement body armor.

The arrests followed swiftly. John Bennett was taken into custody on November 19 in Virginia Beach. Hours later, federal agents descended on Norfolk International Airport, where Mark Bennett was preparing to fly to North Carolina before connecting to Las Vegas.
“It’s chilling that a human being, much less a child educator, would plot to ambush and kill ICE law enforcement officers — offering such specifics as to getting a high-caliber rifle that would pierce the law enforcement’s bulletproof vests. Thanks to Homeland Security Investigations and our partners, these men are behind bars,” said Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin.
McLaughlin framed the alleged conspiracy as part of a broader escalation in targeted violence against immigration officials. “Our officers are facing a more than 1,150% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats while they risk their lives every single day to remove the worst of the worst, including murderers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, and gang members,” she said, noting that ICE personnel now routinely contend with bounties, threats against their families, stalking, and coordinated online doxxing from activists on the left, including the current Democratic minority leader.
The case is being prosecuted under Virginia law, not federal statute, and the criminal complaints remain under seal. No court dates have been set.
