West Virginians are known for being tough. Recently, a leftwing climate activist at Harvard found this out the hard way. During an event at the Kennedy School for Public Policy, the senator was participating in a roundtable discussion when an activist student burst into the room and went on a foul-mouthed rant against the moderate Democrat.
The Washington Examiner described the scene and the fighting words that showed a Harvard student learning that Massachusetts liberals aren’t the same as West Virginia ones.
In an interaction filmed and released by the environmentalist group Climate Defiance, a protester surprised and vigorously denounced Manchin at a Harvard event, prompting the West Virginia Democrat to get to his feet to confront his antagonist. After holding Manchin back, communications director Jonathan Kott grabbed and threw the protester out the door, sending him tumbling to the ground.
“You sold our futures and you got rich doing it. You sick f***!” the protester said, prompting Manchin to rise from his seat and attempt to get into the protester’s face. “How dare you? You have sold our—”
The protester’s last line was cut off after he was tossed out of the room.

BREAKING: we just called Joe Manchin a sick fuck. We humiliated him in front of a herd of Harvard elites. He squared up. We held firm. Barbaric murderer, hideous fiend, he torches humanity and laughs. pic.twitter.com/1ajrQsKnbJ

The Examiner noted that “the young protester was part of a larger group who stood behind Manchin. The senator heard out the others, asking them to sit down to talk, though they refused. After their refusal, he attempted to resume the event, though the protesters began shouting over him.”
Manchin has been one of the rare Democratic critics of Biden’s policies and has claimed that the president broke his word and used The Inflation Reduction Act not to solve inflation but to implement his “green” agenda.
The West Virginia senator was viewed as a potential third-party candidate for president in 2024, but recently said he will not be making a run for the White House.
Last November he broke Democratic hearts by announcing that he will not be seeking re-election, which puts the current Democratic majority in jeopardy.
