Joe Biden Uses D-Day Celebration To Campaign

D-Day serves as one of the greatest moments of triumphs in American history, a day in which the nation showed its courage in the face of evil. This Day In History explained:, “The impact of D-Day extended beyond the battlefield. It marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany. The successful landings and subsequent liberation of France boosted Allied morale and demonstrated the effectiveness of Allied cooperation. It also showcased Eisenhower’s leadership and decision-making under immense pressure. His ability to weigh the risks, trust his advisors, and make a decisive call was instrumental in the operation’s success.

As the Allies advanced through France, the German military found itself increasingly stretched and unable to maintain its defensive lines. The liberation of Paris in August 1944, followed by the Allied advance into Germany, underscored the success of D-Day and Operation Overlord. By May 1945, the war in Europe had concluded with the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany.”

On a day that was intended to honor the brave men who stormed the beaches on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, President Joe Biden delivered an address that revolved around his obsessions: the war in Ukraine and Donald Trump.

Biden’s remarks, honoring the veterans of World War II, cautioned against allowing “tyranny” and “dictators” to go unchecked across the free world and bore more than a passing resemblance to comments the president frequently makes on the 2024 campaign trail about his likely opponent, former President Donald Trump, writes The Washington Examiner.

The president often criticizes Trump for his isolationist foreign policy, attacks his friendships with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and routinely claims that Trump would be a dictator “on day one” if elected to a second term.

“Isolationism was not the answer 80 years ago, and it is not the answer today,” the president stated Thursday. “To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators, is simply unthinkable. Were we to do that, it means we would be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches. Make no mistake: We will not bow down. We will not forget.”

Biden also frequently mentions an unverified claim that Trump referred to World War II veterans as “suckers” and “losers” while visiting Normandy as president, and he closed his Thursday speech by honoring the D-Day armed forces as “heroes.”

Following the ceremony, the president also appeared to have an “oopsie” that was caught on video.

Shortly after the strange scene, in which the president was caught whispering something to his wife Jill Biden, the First Lady ushered out the wobbly president while French leader Emmanuel Macron mingled with the D-Day veterans the two leaders were supposed to be celebrating.

The incident occurred just hours after Biden and his liberal allies attacked the Wall Street Journal for reporting that the president’s mental capacity has been “slipping.”
