Sometimes Democrats just say the quiet part out loud, and few rarely do it more than Hillary Clinton. The former Secretary of State called for stricter regulations on social media platforms during an interview on Saturday, expressing concerns that without federal oversight, “we lose total control.”
Speaking with CNN’s Michael Smerconish, Clinton emphasized the need for national legislation to address the growing influence of social media, especially to protect children, warning that state-level efforts are insufficient.
“We can look at what California and New York have done, and I think a few other states as well,” Clinton said. “But national action is necessary, and unfortunately, Congress has been dysfunctional when it comes to tackling these threats to our kids.”
Clinton specifically urged lawmakers to repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a legal provision that shields social media platforms from liability for user-generated content. This law was initially based on the idea that platforms were neutral conduits for information, a premise Clinton believes is now outdated.
“We should, in my opinion, repeal Section 230, which gave internet platforms immunity because they were seen as simple intermediaries,” Clinton explained. “But we now know that this was a much too simplistic view.”
THEY ADMITTED IT
Hillary Clinton says they will “lose total control” if social media like X isn’t engaging in censorship.
The left wants to control the narrative through censorship.

Clinton concluded by calling for the removal of the legal protections afforded to these platforms, advocating for the establishment of “guardrails” that would better safeguard users.
The former Democratic nominee immediately got called out for sticking a toe in the waters of totalitarianism, noted Fox News. “Author and constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley sounded the alarm on Hillary Clinton’s ‘chilling’ suggestion that Americans who share disinformation should be arrested. Turley addressed the former secretary of state’s controversial remarks on free speech during “America’s Newsroom,” warning that the global effort to stifle free speech has reached U.S. shores.”
The legal scholar has warned about the rise of censorship from the left, telling the news channel, “I talk about her in my new book, ‘The Indispensable Right,’ and how she’s been one of the outstanding voices in the anti-free speech movement. Her views on free speech are quite chilling. What’s interesting is that for years, the left has been trying to get people to embrace censorship, but it’s hard to get a free people to give up freedom, and it’s not working. And so now they’re going old school with Clinton and with countries like Brazil. They’re just going to straight state action prosecutions threatening people with arrest if you have opposing views. This is part of a movement that’s been growing worldwide, and that wave has now reached our shores.”
