Joe Biden spent nearly a quarter of his final year in office away from the White House, with much of that time divided between Delaware, Camp David, and vacation spots such as Nantucket, St. Croix, and California. According to an analysis of White House pool reports, Biden spent approximately 24 percent of 2024 working remotely or on personal retreats, reflecting his preference for operating outside the traditional confines of the executive residence, according to a recent report by The Daily Caller.
Over the course of the year, Biden logged 89 full or partial days away from the White House, excluding official foreign trips. His time spent outside Washington increased significantly after the president was forced to withdraw from the presidential race by Nancy Pelosi. From August through the end of the year, he spent 46 days split between Delaware, Camp David, and other familiar retreats.
Some of Biden’s more notable absences included a six-day stay at the California estate of healthcare entrepreneur Joe Kiani and his annual Thanksgiving visit to Nantucket, where he stayed at billionaire David Rubenstein’s property.
Critics have raised concerns about the optics of a president spending so much time away from the White House. However, administration officials have been quick to defend Biden’s work ethic. White House spokesperson Andrew Bates emphasized that Biden remained consistently engaged in his presidential responsibilities, regardless of his physical location. Bates highlighted Biden’s ability to secure key international agreements while working remotely and noted that modern technology allows presidents to effectively govern from almost anywhere—something previous administrations have also taken advantage of.
Biden’s time away from Washington in 2024 actually represented a decrease compared to earlier years of his presidency. In 2022, analyses suggested he spent nearly 40 percent of the year in Delaware or other retreats, while in 2023, that number was closer to 37 percent. For context, former Presidents George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan spent 490 and 349 days, respectively, at their private ranches during their presidencies.
In May, Biden received criticism for not admitting that he stayed at the homes of billionaires, something that liberals have harped on as unethical when conservative Supreme Court Justices do the same.

Deduct all that time from his lucrative pension and fine him a couple million.
Did so since swearing in
If my cyphering is accurate slow joe spent more time on vacation last year than I did during my entire working life. Must have been nice for taxpayers to pick up his tab as well.
