Just how radical has the left become? They want the United States government reimport those who have been deported by the Trump administration. A Democratic primary in New York’s 4th Congressional District is drawing attention after challenger Kiana Bierria-Anderson called for the return of certain deported immigrants and compensation for affected communities, describing recent enforcement actions as “one of the most traumatic moments in U.S. history.”
Bierria-Anderson, a union leader and community organizer running against Rep. Laura Gillen in the June 23 primary, made the remarks in a video that circulated on social media. The clip was shared March 23 by commentator Ryan Saavedra, who wrote: “Democrat Kiana Anderson, who is running for Congress in NY-04, demands to bring back all illegal aliens that’ve been deported. She demands ‘reparations for all communities’, saying there ‘needs to be compensation … because this is one of the most traumatic moments in U.S. history.'”

In the video, Bierria-Anderson advocates for repatriating individuals deported in recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, particularly those with legal visas, pending citizenship applications, or long-standing community ties.
“This is not just about enforcement; it’s about humanity,” she said, adding that there should be “reparations for all communities” affected by deportations to address what she described as harm to families and neighborhoods.
Bierria-Anderson, 32, has centered her campaign on affordability, housing, and working families, and has received support from progressive groups, including the New York Progressive Action Network. She is running to the left of Gillen, with some critics arguing the incumbent has supported DHS and ICE funding despite opposing certain enforcement actions.
