A new Tucker Carlson interview with former congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul is offering a warning about the next 6 months or so. The libertarian-leaning congressman from Texas warned that Americans should be prepared for a “black swan” event that may “pop up.”
He urged people to educate themselves “because if you come away from that and you’re able accumulate a lot of… get by… you have your guns and stored food and all that. It’s not going to work. You have to understand what’s happening, you have to know what’s coming, it’s very, very dangerous, and that’s why I love to see smaller units of government.”
The Daily Caller writes:
Paul, who served 12 terms in Congress in three stints, discussed the war in Ukraine, attacks on his foreign policy views and the risk of World War III in the interview with Carlson, a co-founder of the Daily Caller and Daily Caller News Foundation. Paul warned that education is necessary for those seeking to get through the event.
“I think we’re reaching this point where some sudden thing is going to happen,” Paul told Carlson. “I believe in that theory of the black swan. It’s going to pop up and it’s not going to be controllable.”
A “black swan event” is defined as an impossibly difficult event to predict that has extremely widespread consequences that challenges basic assumptions, according to the Corporate Finance Institute, which cited 9/11, Brexit, the dotcom crash and the COVID-19 pandemic as examples.
Paul, who ran for president on the Libertarian ticket in 1988 and who ran as a Republican in 2008 and 2012, told Carlson too many people focused on the wrong things.

Paul’s interview comes on the heels of new reports that “Taiwan has officially confirmed the presence of US troops stationed on its islands in the Taiwan Strait permanently, a development that could further escalate mounting tensions with China.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed in 2023 facilitated the deployment of these troops to conduct training programs for Taiwanese frontline forces.
The move comes as China continues to assert its disputed claim over Taiwan, viewing it as a renegade province despite never having ruled it. The heightened military activities by China in and around the Taiwan Strait have prompted Taiwan to bolster its defense capabilities.”
Taiwan has long been seen as a hot spot in foreign policy, something Biden has not proven himself particularly adept at handling. The island nation has asserted its independence from China
